The Baby is Coming!!

Well, I went to the doctor on Monday and she said I was 4 cm dialated!! Ahhh!! I started freaking out and thinking that when I finally did go in to labor, I would be too far along and wouldn't be able to get my precious epidural (this is exactly what happened to my friend)! Oh the horror!! So, I scheduled an induction for tomorrow morning. We are going in at 6 am (so, no sleep for us starting tomorrow). I can't wait to see what this little guy will look like and be like. It will be so fun to have another boy in the house. I grew up with 6 sisters, so I don't really know what boys are like. It will certainly be an adventure!
On another note, Scott is back in school and loving it. He always has to be busy doing something. Even on spring break he organized closets, did hours of yard work, played with Ryley...he even rearranged and organized my kitchen cupboards!! How's that for a husband! :)

You Know You're a Mom When:

1) You catch yourself singing the "Blue's Clue's" theme in the shower.
2) You are never caught up on all of the laundry.
3) You don't get a shower until 1pm!
4) You always have something on your shirt from your kids.
5) Sleeping in is considered a thing of the past!
6) You hide in the bathroom to be alone. ( I do this so much, but then my daughter NO MATTER WHAT, always finds me. She can sniff me out like a police dog!!)
7) You wouldn't trade any of it for the world.

I know there are many others, but that is all I have the energy to type right now.

Baby or Beauty Pageant

By the way I have been acting lately you would think I was entering a beauty contest or attending a red carpet event. However, I am not doing anything close to those things...instead I am getting ready to have a baby. That's right. I am primping and prepping to go to the hospital and bare it all. Now I have done this before so it is no big deal right? I mean the doctors and nurses see women all the time and probably don't flinch at anything askew. As for me, I am not taking my chances. I have been shaving my legs everyday because heaven forbid I have some stubble on my legs, or anywhere else for that matter. I got my hair did last week (totally chopped off and a little bit of color). Today I even put on tanning lotion to hide all of my luscious whiteness. My mother in law gave me a gift card for my birthday so I can go get a pedicure. What in the world else do I need to do!!! I'm telling you, aside from dieting, I feel like I am getting ready to attend a wedding! Am I crazy, or do most women do this? I just feel like, once the baby is here most everything will be put aside. So I may as well do things now while I can, right?

Spring Break...cookies and cake!

The first week of Spring Break is behind us now. Our bodies are in shock from all of the food and inactivity and our brains are in shock from all of the bonehead, end-of-game plays during the NCAA college basketball tourney! Unbelievable. One day I watched about 5 games in a row, my teams losing in all the games. What drives me absolutely nuts is how, with, say, 15 seconds left in the game, the team with the ball is down by 2 and bringing it up the court...OK...freeze it there...I'm not a sports analyst, coach, and I can't even palm a basketball, but I do know that if you take it into the paint you have a chance of not only scoring, but getting fouled and winning.....so they'll come down the floor, dribble in place for about 13 seconds and then heave a rushed, off-balance three pointer that doesn't even touch the rim! What the?!?! This seemed to happen every single game! Whateva...

So, I''ve registered for school and am looking for a good internship in my field that will pay. Jill and I are just waiting for the baby to come. She's feeling lots of discomfort and "crowding" in her belly so we know it's soon. We're soo excited to have a little boy in the family.

We hope everyone is happy and being blessed in your goals.

High Fructose Corn Syrup

This is a very annoying subject to me. First of all, if any of you ever read the ingredients on what you buy you will know that almost everything contains it. Even your 100% whole wheat flour bread (it is the 3rd ingredient!). It is also in light miracle whip, light yoplait yogurt, ketchup, many cereals....even bran flakes and rice krispies, which are not sweet to me at all! Here is a little bit of info: This sweetner is metabolized differently from other forms of sugar, and some studies suggest that its effect on your insulin levels actually prompts you to eat again sooner. It also tastes sweeter than other forms of sugar, which may condition us to want even sweeter foods! This is my complaint...we try to eat healthy and avoid trans fat and processed food and high frutose corn syrup....but when even whole wheat bread adds it in how can we possibly avoid it!! SOOOOO annoying!! I guess I will just need to make homemade wheat bread if I want to avoid it. I have checked almost every type of whole wheat bread, and the only kind I have found that doesn't have any hfcs is this sugar free kind, which was pretty good. I found it at Wal mart, but now it isn't there anymore. But what about yogurt...does the plain kind have any hfcs? I am just mad at the food industry and especially because they make the healthier foods more expensive! How do they ever expect the obesity rate to drop. That is why there are so many unhealthy people in the world. It is easier and cheaper for people to eat processed foods than to make homemade healthy meals. I also read an article today that said you can eat real sugar-in moderation and still lose weight. Instead of using artificial sweetner, which can be 200 to 700 times as sweet as natural sugar, and consuming these may interfere with your ability to judge natural sweetness. So, maybe instead of using an sugar packet on my cereal, I should use 1 tsp of sugar??? Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
