18 Months Old

Today is Ryley's 18 month old birthday. She is growing up so fast. Before we know it she will be having her 2nd birthday! One good thing about her turning 18 months is that she will be able to go to nursery during church. Hip hip hooray. It is so hard to do anything with her at church because she just wants to run around and get in to other people's bags. Why do kids like to do that so much? She is enthralled with what other people have in their bags.
Today we are going to go check out the new Wal-Mart that is supposedly being built about 10 minutes from our house. Oh, how this will make my life so much easier. Pathetic, I know, but as a stay at home mom, there are a number of random things that can make us happy....and having a Wal-Mart near by is just one of them. Other random things that make me happy: taking naps, going outside and playing with Ryley when the sun is out, eating liquorice (the absolute BEST is that Kookaburra kind), having people over to visit, and having a good hair/makeup day!

Jelly Beans Anyone?

I have had this major addiction for jelly belly's, you know, the"gourmet jelly beans," the last few days. They are just so good. I remember this time last year I got the same addiction. I get out my little jelly belly candy jar and put all of the beautifullly colored jelly beans in it. I think it is because Easter is coming up or something. :) Don't worry though that they are $6.99/pound when you buy them in the bulk section! Why can they charge that much for them? Is it because it takes 7 days to make them (I just found this out), or is it because they are so good and chocked full of flavor? By the way, my nickname was always jillybean...get it?? On a healthy note, has anyone tried those All Bran garlic herb crackers? They are SOOO good.

Friday night! YEAH!! For us it means watching a movie, searching the net, or staying up late watching tv. Nothing too exciting. I usually catch up on all my tivoed shows while Scott works in his office. Oh the days when there were no kids and we could do whatever we wanted, right? Of course, it was probably almost the same thing as we do now. Ha ha.

President's Day

What a nice Monday holiday. Scott has the day off of school, so we are just hanging out as a family. Although, at the moment, he went to help our friend do something with some hay she has on her farm. After that I am going to Costco, fun right?

This past weekend was so nice. On Friday night my sister and her husband came over and watched Ryley while Scott and I went out to dinner and stayed overnight at a hotel. We went to this really yummy Asian restaurant...the shrimp appetizer was sooo good. I could eat shrimp everyday!!
When we got home we found out that Ryley had slept in until 10:15! So, my newly married sister and her husband got to sleep in as they normally would. I was happy for them. Scott and I, however, got woken up at 4am by the hotel alarm, 7am by his cell phone, and 8 and 9am by people in the hall!! DOH!! And all night I kept thinking I was hearing Ryley, even though she wasn't even with us. I now officially have "mom" ears. I swear, I can hear everything now!!

Here are some new pics of Ryley, including one of the beautiful flowers Scott got me for our anniversary and one of my prego belly. I am now 33 1/2 weeks along....and we still don't have anything for this little guy. We better get crackin'!

On a side note, Ryley found a marker on Saturday and decided she wanted to put it in her ear. So, on the inside and around her ear is all blue. At least she hasn't put anything up her nose yet!

Happy Anniversary

My man is the greatest guy in the whole world!! Today is our 5th wedding anniversary. FIVE big years. The last 5 years have been wonderful...full of joy, change, adjustment, growth and love. We have a beautiful daughter and a son on the way. We are so blessed!
Scott came home today with a beautiful, huge bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates and a present from Nordstrom (a coat I have needed for years now). It was an awesome suprise and I felt so special. Thanks sweetie!! You are the best husband a woman could ask for. Or as Scott would say, "You are the best wife I've ever had."

Happy V-Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! I made cupcakes to take to some girls I know. Yummy!! Cupcakes are such a fun treat. It brings me back to when I was a kid and we would have cupcakes at school. As an adult you never really get to eat cupcakes that much. So this is a fun day!! When Ryley wakes up we will decorate them. Oh wait, maybe I should do that now while she is sleeping so it isn't such a mess. She has been obsessed with doing everything on her own now. She is becoming independent. It is good in some ways, but in other ways it is hard to let them do EVERYTHING!!
She is eating a raisin in this picture. I thought it was kind of funny. There is no snow here anymore. It has all melted and it is about 40 degrees outside. Now it just looks brown and blah out. At least with the snow it was kind of pretty.

4D Ultrasound

We had a 4D ultrasound last week. It was so cool. Of course, we had one with Ryley as well, but I just forgot how fun it was to actually "see" your baby, instead of a black and white "I think this might be a face" picture. The techs kept saying what a beautiful baby he was. I don't know how they determined that since he mostly looked all squished up in there. They also said he has some hair. Wahoo. Babies with hair are so cute.
The baby is doing great and is right on track for growth. During our first ultrasound they found a little cyst on the fluid collecting part of the baby's head. We were happy to find out that it is now gone. What a blessing.
Ryley has been sick these last few days. I figured it was just a cold, but since she has had a slight fever since Sunday, I decided to take her in this morning. I am glad I did because they found she had an ear infection in both ears. Poor baby. She has been whiny and clingy and just not her happy little self. I hate when babies are sick and they just don't know what is wrong with them.
On a happy note, a new episode of "Lost" is on tonight! YEAH!! It has been off the air since November! So, to celebrate I am making peanut butter popcorn. It is the best snack to have for a movie or good tv show. The recipe is super easy. Here it is:
Boil together a 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup light corn syrup. Take off heat and stir in 1/2 cup peanut butter and 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Pour over 2 batches of popcorn (I like it over just 1 batch) and enjoy! Oh, and I just use the light microwave popcorn.
