Do I Need a Commercial Driver's License?

Okay, so the other day I took the kids out to the grocery store. This is a much different task now with a newborn and a 20 month old. First of all, since Kirye sits where Ryley normally would, I was like, how am I going to do this. I didn't want her in the cart because where would I put all of my groceries. Well, no need to panic, some brilliant person (probably a woman with 2 kids under age 2) came up with the idea of attaching a little car to a grocery cart. Come on, you've all seen them right; those new monstrosities that look like kiddie rides. I thought this would be great and of course fun for Ryley. So I get Ryley in the "car" and Kirye is in his spot and I start steering the cart towards the produce section. First of all, no one told me I would need a commercial driver's license to steer this thing. It was insane. I felt like I was driving a fork lift (not that I have ever driven one, but it was what I imagined driving a fork lift would be like). It was so freakin' hard to get around in that thing...not to mention it's like 10 feet long, so you totally have to plan out your turns and make sure you don't run in to anyone. I wish someone was filming me. It must've been hilarious. Needless to say, Ryley didn't want to stay in the "car" part that long, so I eventually ended up putting her in the cart with all of the groceries. And then of course she wanted to eat whatever I put in the cart, even if it was canned green beans. Next time I will have to wait for hubby to get home to do anything like that again.

Come to think of it, it couldn't have been a woman who came up with the kiddie woman would want to push that thing around willingly. Those car carts are nothing but pure evil!

Kirye Scott

Wednesday, April 18, 2007

Well, we are adjusting to having 2 kids instead of one. I thought one kid was hard....why did no one tell me that just one is easy!! I am trying to spend a little alone time every day with Ryley to help her adjust to having a new baby in the house. Last night we went for a long walk and I was even able to jog a little!! I know it has only been 1 1/2 weeks, but this belly thing is killing me!! I was reading in one of my pregnancy books the other day and under the title "Your body changes after childbirth" and there was the funniest quote. It said, "Your belly will be large and flabby until your muscles have time to tighten up." I couldn't stop laughing...mostly because I thought if I laughed it would help me to keep from crying. I can't remember how long it took me to fit in to my jeans after Ryley was born...I think it was at least 3 months. OH MAN!! At least it is nice outside and we can start going on walks and being outside.

Our Little Angel

Here are some more pictures of Kirye. He has been such a good baby so far and we are so blessed to have him! He is so cute too! We just LOVE his hair...and so does everyone else!
Today we went to the doctor and he is doing well. They weighed him and he is 6 pounds 9 oz. and he measured 21 1/4 inches long. When he was born they measured him at 19 inches long. So, I guess we will just estimate and say that he was about 20 inches long when he was born.

Kirye Scott is in the house...

Yesterday was the 6am scheduled induction. We arrived around 6am and were escorted to the "suite" at the end of the hall...a spacious corner room with a view of the city. So we were just hanging out, going through the regular admitting process. Jill wasn't feeling any pain or much discomfort. Since she was dilated 4 cm, which I guess is pretty progressed, the nurse decided to keep checking in on her. So, about 2 hours later, the nurse decided to just give her the epidural for whatever reason. One and a half hours later, the nurse just decided to routinely check her out....and the baby was on it's way! So, about 15 minutes later, Kirye Scott was born! He weighed 6 lbs 15 ozs and was 19 inches long. He has tons of shaggy hair and looks like a "smurfer" (a smurf and a surfer). We are so happy and blessed to have such loving family and friends around us for support and thank you all.
